Florida Gator
By Debbie Wolfe
In Florida where I now live, alligators are a common sight especially if you paddle or visit rivers, canals or lakes that are primarily fresh water — even brackish water.
This big one lives at the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive area and of course I found it by parking and walking down a path less traveled.
Gators can reach speeds up to 35 mph on land or 20 mph in the water.
Using a long lens is prudent.
